The Tub is an intimate study of vulnerability, weight, and ritual.

The figure folds inward, crouched low within the shallow basin, her body both contained and exposed. There is a quiet tension in the pose—muscles engaged, spine curved, head bowed—as if caught in a private moment of pause rather than rest. She is not bathing, nor emerging, but suspended somewhere in between.

The tub itself becomes more than a vessel. It frames the body, holding it, limiting it, protecting it. The patinated surface beneath her suggests water, time, and use—echoing the idea of cleansing as something both physical and emotional. The contrast between the smooth, warm tones of the figure and the cooler, textured basin heightens the sense of introspection.

The Tub speaks to solitude and self-containment. It reflects the moments when the body turns inward, when strength and fragility coexist, and when care is quiet and unseen. This work is less about bathing, and more about what it means to occupy space with oneself—fully, honestly, and without performance.

This piece references Edgar Degas’ Women Bathing series, reinterpreting its themes of intimacy and the unseen rituals of daily life through a sculptural lens.
