After the bath

After the Bath captures a moment that exists just beyond action—when the ritual has ended, but its warmth still lingers.

The figure is unguarded, settled into herself, suspended between movement and rest. Water has done its work; what remains is presence. Skin holds memory—of heat, of touch, of solitude—and the body exists not to be seen, but simply to be. There is no performance here, no tension of observation. Only quiet.

This work is concerned with intimacy in its most private form: the relationship between a body and itself. The softness of the pose contrasts with the physical weight of form, grounding the figure in reality rather than idealisation. Light moves gently across the surface, revealing curves, pauses, and the subtle language of stillness.

After the Bath is about what happens when no one is watching. It speaks to self-possession, vulnerability without fragility, and the calm that follows care. A moment of return—back into the body, back into oneself.

This piece references Edgar Degas’ Women Bathing series, reinterpreting its themes of intimacy and the unseen rituals of daily life through a sculptural lens.

All Bronze sculptures are limited editions of 20 casts, other mediums potentially available upon request.
